Nintendo Quickly Strikes Down Pokemon X and Y Leaks

October 3, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Leaker has already given up their copy of the game, claims heads are rolling at Nintendo.

Nintendo has struck down on a store leaking early copies of Pokemon X and Y, forcing the leaker to give up their copy of the game and taken down the images they put up earlier.

We want to make it a matter of record that we knew about said leaks and chose not to share it, as many reputable gaming sites decided as well. We also do not believe in providing the leaker notoriety, so we will not be providing said leaker’s name here. We do have to make one concession and link them as the source below. While there is some information we will leak information from time to time, and such will be condoned and tolerated by Nintendo, the circumstances behind this one were just too much.

Said leaker was sharing pictures and game details on a personal social media account since yesterday, when they confirmed that they received a copy of the game. Coming out of Canada, they said they were not the only one to receive copies.

Today, said leaker revealed that a Nintendo representative came to said game store. The rep apparently told him that heads were already rolling in Nintendo (which sounds like something they said to scare the hell out of said leaker). The leaker volunteered to give up their own copy of the game, also admitting he is trying to keep a friend in the store from losing their job.

On the side, there are separate accounts that stores in Italy are also selling copies of the game early.

The simultaneous global retail release of Pokemon X and Y  was to be the first in the series, and could be pivotal in the future of gaming retail, as simultaneous global releases could be part of a solution towards breaking down piracy and maintaining region locking.

Pokemon X and Y are still scheduled to release October 10 worldwide for the 3DS. Image is from Pokemon X and Y, provided directly by Nintendo.
