Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Will Allow Reloading While Aiming Down Sights

July 3, 2019 by Dennis Patrick

You can continue to track your target while you reload.

The next big Call of Duty title is in the works by Infinity Ward. Set to be a reboot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, this title will see a few changes. One of those changes is the animation itself with the reload function. Apparently, now in the game, players will be able to reload their weapon while continuing to aim down the sights. It’s a big change as the previous titles within the franchise did not offer this feature and it could very well be something that gamers may not even enjoy, but we won’t know until the game actually launches into the market.

In an interview conducted on the official Activision website, Infinity Ward spoke about a few elements about their upcoming Call of Duty title. One those elements deals specifically on the reload animations.

Outside of being able to reload while looking down the sights, the development team also opted to make animations as smooth as possible. This means that they had to go back and look at various weapons and develop animations that would not seem stiff or create an odd transition. Instead, Infinity Ward hopes you can get a sense of various aspects about the reload process such as the weight of the weapon or even the type of weapon you have equipped. Furthermore, it seems that the reload animation can vary just on the number of bullets you have available.

For instance, if you’re reloading from a completely empty weapon, you may find that the animation may take a bit longer to reload whereas a weapon that may only need a few rounds added will be quicker. Likewise, the development team also took the weapons used out at the shooting range in order to get a better sense of how these weapons feel and operate.

Additionally, the team also had Navy Seals, advisory members, to help showcase on these weapons would typically be reloaded and used. As it stands right now, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to launch on October 25, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms.
