Speaking on Reddit Microsoft's Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb said that the Xbox One has not been "rushed" for a release this November but added that the company has had "a few challenges" since the console's announcement.
"The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it 'Rushed' is incorrect.
"Did we have a few challenges between May and August? Sure. But we are working on our own schedule – not any one else's. At gamescom, every game in the Xbox booth was running on final Xbox One hardware. Every. Single. One. That would paint a very different take on the being 'rushed."
Among the changes Microsoft has made to the Xbox One launch is a reduction in the number of launch countries from 21 to 13. It also seems that Kinect voice commands – deemed an integral part of the Xbox One experience by Microsoft – will only be available in five of the launch territories.
Microsoft has blamed the delayed launch in eight European countries on Kinect localisation. Despite these difficulties, the company is reportedly seeing "better than expected" yields from the Xbox One.
The Xbox One is set to be released this November for $499/€499/£429 but does not currently have a confirmed launch date.
