Battlefield 4 Levolution, Gameplay Videos Released

August 22, 2013 by Josiah Renaudin

Discover how the maps in Battlefield 4 change over time.

Battlefield 4’s expansive multiplayer mode will rarely feel the same from game to game. The character progressions and customization will help diversify the experience, but one of the biggest changes EA and DICE have been touting at this year’s Gamescom is Levolution. It might be a strange, uninspired term, but the power of next-generation consoles will allow for the maps to evolve and change as the battle progresses. Even if you might think you know a map after a few extended deathmatches, anything can be flipped thanks to the random nature of the product.

A video discussing the Levolution, which first premiered at the EA press event this week, has been released, showcasing how maps can crumble, see different weather patterns, and even flood. Soldiers can also make use of interactive pieces and parts of the environment, either saving themselves from incoming fire or trapping enemies with active grenades. There’s much more to Battlefield 4’s combat than simple first-person shooting, and Levolution is a big reason why.

Looking for a bit more of the actual action that will take place in the online warzone? JackFrags has just uploaded more than 10 minutes of pure, uninterrupted gameplay, which we’ve included below. Paracel Storm is his map of choice, where he’s taking part in the new Obliteration game type.

At this point, most people don’t need too much more convincing. If you don’t like shooters, don’t put DICE’s latest work on the Christmas list. Otherwise, prepare for the next generation of multiplayer this fall.
