Agent Finally Dropped By Take-Two Interactive

November 23, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Agent no longer in the works?

You may not remember but there was once a video game being developed by Rockstar Games called Agent. Not much information was revealed but it was officially revealed back in 2009 and was made to be an exclusive title for the PlayStation 3. However, since then the trademark for the game was kept by Rockstar Games parent company Take-Two while the development team went on to keep their lips sealed shut. While we expected the game to be tossed away, the trademark would live on for Take-Two leaving some to expect the game to be kicked around with the development studio for a future release.

That is until recently when Agent’s trademark was dropped. Noted by GameSpot, the trademark’s official status is no longer active which means that Take-Two Interactive is no longer keeping the title. There have been no comments made by Rockstar Games or Take-Two regarding Agent and their reason behind scrapping the project. We do have a few small details regarding what the game was supposed to be about.

Apparently, the game was set in the 1970s during the Cold War where players would go through tactical missions with an emphasis on espionage and making big political assassinations. Since the announcement of Agent, Rockstar Games went on to develop and release Grand Theft Auto V along with their most recent release, Red Dead Redemption 2. We’re curious why the trademark was dropped after all these years and what the developers had intended to do along with what was already worked on before the game was scrapped.
