Satellite Reign meets their funding goal with 3 days to go

July 25, 2013 by Ryan Parreno

Future crowdfunding efforts will focus on Paypal and stretch goals.

As of this writing, Satellite Reign has raised 373,068 pounds or $ 571,000, safely above the 350,000 pounds goal. 5 Lives Studios were barely ready to release their celebration video on time. The best part is that their campaign still has three days to go.

Somewhat anticlimactically, 5 Lives also revealed they've been working on getting a Paypal setup, but funding finished before they did.

The team earlier claimed they would be able to make the game scalable, but clearly now they'll be looking at hitting several stretch goals. At 380,000 pounds, they will be able to hire Russel Shaw, who did the original soundtrack for Syndicate. 400,000 pounds will fund European localization, into French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Czech. 440,000 pounds will fund programming for destructible environments.

At 500,000 pounds, they will be able to hire Russel Zimmerman, known for his Shadowrun novels. Zimmerman is already writing the Satellite Reign novella, but he will then be taken on to do more writing work for in-game dialogues and communication. This amount also allows them to add enemy factions The Eternals and The Red Mafia, and two new environments, "The Grid" and the industrial city district.

550,000 pounds mean they will add The Disconnected enemy factions, Sci-Tech, Scientific City and Slums districts. Finally, multiplayer co-op will come when they net 650,000 pounds.

Of course, it would be a tall order to raise an additional 300,000 pounds in those 3 days, but that's what Paypal will be for. Although 5 Lives has structured the campaign to focus on PC for now, perhaps adding more to that pot will go a long way to bringing the game to consoles, portables and maybe even mobile. For now, we congratulate the team and are looking forward to the game's eventual release!
