Capcom Will Continue To Remake Past IPs

August 2, 2018 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready for Capcom to dig out their old IPs.

There’s certainly a wide range of eager buyers when it comes to video game remakes. Not only do you have gamers who have previously enjoyed an IP when it first released, but there’s potential of newcomers to a series that may have been too young in order to enjoy a game upon its initial launch. As a result, we have seen more and more remakes along with remastered editions launch into the market.

One of those development studios that have no problem in releasing their past work again for newcomers and fans alike is Capcom. The developers over at Capcom have been releasing their past Resident Evil titles to enjoy on more recent console platforms such as the original title.

Now their team has been focusing on Resident Evil 2 which will soon have a full remake in January of 2019. However, after the game is put out into the market, it doesn’t appear that Capcom will be relying on new IPs or installments for their fan base.

In a recent investor conference, the subject of remakes was brought up asking if Capcom will continue to release their past catalog of games on the latest generation platforms. Capcom did state that the studio will be exploring more of their past properties to release once again with an overhaul of visuals and mechanics.

We don’t have any details as to what video game IPs in particular Capcom is referring to as there could potentially be more Resident Evil titles in the works beyond the Resident Evil 2 remake, but it seems that one of your favorite Capcom IPs could see a return down the line.
