Far Cry 5 Campaign Will Work Offline; Features Microtransactions

March 16, 2018 by Jordan Coetsee

Fan favourite microtransactions make a return in Far Cry 5.

With the release date of Far Cry 5 inching closer and closer, Ubisoft has given us more and more news on what we can expect from this year’s first-person open-world shooter. First off, as you would expect with other Ubisoft games out there, Far Cry 5 will feature microtransactions, though it will be similar to how Assassins Creed Origins implement the mechanic.

Executive producer Dan Hay told GameSpot that the game has been set up to be “generous”. “We’ve set the game up so…nothing is locked [away]. You can go out and explore, and the game will reward you for your exploration.”

However, if you want to skip that grind and pay real money for progress, you can. Ubisoft has also stated that the microtransactions will be purely cosmetic in scope, whether it’s single-player or co-op. For those with a slightly more temporal internet connection, the campaign has been confirmed to bewill be available offline,

Far Cry 5 will release on March 27th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Along with a Season Pass for three additional DLC packs and a remastered port of Far Cry 3, there will be free updates
