Nintendo Direct: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Makes the Switch

March 8, 2018 by Katrina Filippidis

The former PlayStation exclusive crash lands on Nintendo Switch this July.

Crash Bandicoot is an iconic platforming franchise that’s synonymous with PlayStation, but today that changes. Previously a PlayStation exclusive, the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane trilogy will now be joining the Nintendo Switch family of mascot-fronted games.

The reveal, which came during today’s Nintendo Direct show, is consistent with reports suggesting the N. Sane trilogy would receive several ports in 2018. Suddenly Crash Bandicoot on Xbox One doesn’t sound so insane after all. Update: Xbox One and PC versions have been confirmed by the official Crash Bandicoot Twitter account.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane is a compilation of the first three games in the Crash Bandicoot chain: Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes Back and Warped. Sony said the franchise would be getting remastered during E3 2016, before announcing the title and showcasing actual gameplay in subsequent months. The resounding success of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane certainly points the way for more remasters, which, according to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg, seem like a distinct possibility:

“We know there’s a vocal fanbase that wanted (Crash) to come back. But you never know if that is emblematic of a larger audience or just this niche, nostalgia-based community. So far, we are seeing some real passion for it, so that could lead to other things.”

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane will be available on Nintendo Switch from July 10.
