Dust: An Elysian Tail Coming to Steam

March 25, 2013 by Jordan Erica Webber

The creator aims to get the game to Steam by the end of next month.

The creators of indie platformer Dust: An Elysian Tail – otherwise known as Humble Hearts – revealed at their PAX East panel over the weekend that they're bringing the game to Steam, perhaps even as soon as April. Kotaku has a statement from Dean Dodrill, who created the game almost completely by himself, in which he states that he's aiming to get the game out on Steam by the end of April. Though the build is basically finished, he says the exact release date will depend on how long it takes to get everything tested, certified, and localised.

He also goes into a little detail on how the PC version of the game will work:

“Most of these last few months have been about making the game as PC friendly as possible, including support for numerous visual and control options. Mouse and keyboard players should be very happy, alongside standard gamepad players. Keyboard only is also an option. The game will be published by Microsoft Studios, and I will NOT be implementing GFW. Also, the game looks amazing at 1080p.”

Previously, Dust: An Elysian Tail was only available through the Xbox Live Arcade. After several years in development, it originally launched as part of the Summer of Arcade promotion last year. The enchanting game has a Metacritic rating of 83, and was nominated for Best Independent Game at the VGAs (though it lost out to Journey) and Best Debut at the Game Developers Choice Awards.

Have you played Dust: An Elysian Tail? Will its debut on Steam convince you to give it a try?
