Psyonix will be adding interesting new features to their multiplayer sports title, Rocket League. The studio has confirmed that the game will be getting cross-platform party chat later in 2018.

Taking to Twitter, the team gave a release window of this year – unfortunately, this means that we won’t really know when exactly the feature will arrive, but it’s good to know that it’s in the pipeline.

Hey there! We’re actively working on cross-platform party support for a 2018 release. 🙂

Rocket League is the first game to offer crossplay between nearly all platforms (besides PS4, of which Sony has only allowed PS4 players to cross-play with PC). Recently the title has blasted past 40 million players, from here, there is no doubt that the game will continue to grow, perhaps the next generation of consoles will see crossplay integration between previous and current gen players? Who knows.

Thinking about grabbing the game for your Switch console? We recently did a first impressions of the game on Nintendo’s platform, read about it, here.

‘Rocket League captured the hearts of gamers when it made its debut on PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in Summer of 2015. Whether it was the gripping intense gameplay to its lengthy, but worthy progression system, the game always felt like it had an incentive to play. Rocket League received positive feedback from the community for being something brand new and creative.’

Rocket League is out now on all platforms.
