Following CCP Games' announcement last week of EVE Online and DUST 514 merging, the studio has now revealed a date for the F2P shooter's open beta on the PS3.
Starting January 22, all PS3 users will be able to download the client via the PSN Store and play it for free. What's more, CCP is throwing those in the closed beta a bone by not resetting their stats.
CCP chief Veigar Petursson claims, "The launch of the Dust 514 Open Beta is another step towards our long-term vision for CCP and Eve," and adds, "But this is just the beginning. As we have done with Eve Online, in the coming weeks, and for years to come, we will continually improve upon and add to the Dust 514 experience, as well as add deeper integration between the two games and their communities."
So, anyone up for a free-to-play shooter on the PS3? For those already in the closed beta, how is it? Will it be the next big FPS game?
Thanks, VG247
