ArenaNet has cracked down pretty hard on botters and hackers in Guild Wars 2, and they continue to do so as it's something of an on-going battle to prevent them from making a mess out of the game's persistent setting. As a persistent MMO, it's imperative that the studio preserve the game's economy. Banning bots, like banning players who exploit the economy, is necessary to allow the game's economy to tick on smoothly.
The developers started a thread on the game's official forums today to request the help of players in addressing the issue of botting, and to make it easier for players to report areas—rather than specific bots—that appear to host a lot of botters. The thread serves as a place to share that information.
Participating players are requested to provide a map and location, world, and the date and time of day where they noticed instances of botters. Players are requested not to provide screenshots or names of presumed botters.
If you play Guild Wars 2 and want to help enable ArenaNet to run a smoother operation, just head on over to the thread.
