Warner Bros.Interactive has released the launch trailer for Monolith's Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, Guardians of Middle-Earth.
From the launch trailer, it looks decent enough that it could work, but of course, the big question mark here is the controls. If there are a few genres a controller can't handle well they are the Real-Time Strategy (RTS) genre, and MOBAs — which are a spin-off off RTS' if you think about it.
So, do you want to see Sauron kick the crap out of Gandalf? Or how some of the character's "Level 6" specials look? Give the trailer a watch.
Seeing as I used to play a lot of DoTA, I wouldn't say no to having that same experience in the comfort of my living room. Hopefully, for next-gen, Sony and Microsoft will push for keyboard and mouse functionality out of the box for some games, no? I mean, if there's one genre that can rival shooters when it comes to multiplayer popularity, its the MOBA genre. If console-makers allowed it, I'd dare say the likes of Call of Duty and Battlefield might play second-fiddle to DoTA 2 or League of Legends, no?
Guardians of Milddle-Earth is set to come out in this week's PSN and Xbox LIVE update. Give it a try and let us know how a MOBA game works using a controller.
Will you be picking this up or should MOBA games be strictly on PC?
Thanks, VG247
