Sequel to Ori And The Blind Forest Announced at E3

June 11, 2017 by Katrina Filippidis

It looks beautiful but heartbreaking.

Microsoft today revealed at its E3 keynote that ethereal 2015 2D platformer Ori and the Blind Forest is getting a sequel. Titled Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the game will take players on a lavish adventure through the forest of Nibel. There, they must uncover lost fragments of truth and “unravel Ori’s true destiny”.

Like the sequel, Will of the Wisps features a soft, beautiful palette of colours, strange creatures like gigantic toads and sentient cartoon owls, and of course scary enemies like bioluminescent spiders, according to the trailer above. Judging by the melancholic atmosphere, there’s something very sad connected to the game’s plot.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps will launch as a Windows 10 and Xbox One exclusive, which could eventually branch off to other consoles in time. It will support Xbox One X Enhanced gameplay, and is an Xbox Play Anywhere title—once it’s bought on PC or Xbox once it immediately becomes available on the other platform.
