EA Named One of the Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality for 2013

November 16, 2012 by Jordan Erica Webber

EA had to receive a rating of 100% to make the list

EA has been named one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for 2013, staff announced on its blog. Businesses are only added to the list each year if they score a 100% rating in the HRC's Corporate Equality Index, which EA has achieved after a year of putting in place certain improvements to work towards full inclusion. Gabrielle Toledano, Chief Talent Officer at EA, outlined some of the steps the company has taken this year that have helped to get it on this list:

I am very pleased that EA has scored a 100% rating and been recognized by the Human Rights Campaign in a year where the company has taken significant steps to remain inclusive. EA has made changes to our medical benefits, been involved in LGBT events in our community and taken a public stance against the Defense of Marriage Act. EA champions diversity with a work environment where everyone feels welcome and can be themselves.

EA has become quite famous for its views on equality. After all, Mass Effect 3 expanded the series' options for romantic relationships to include homosexual ones, and thousands of people came to EA's defence when it received backlash from anti-gay groups for that and similar options in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Whatever you might have to say about its other business practices, the company deserves to be recognised for this.
