Ok, because people on the internet seem to never heed my warnings about these release date rumours, let me make it clear. TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT!
Now, with that out of the way, a Portuguese retailer Gaming Replay, may have leaked the release date for the upcoming God of War title. Here is an image of the retailer’s checkout page in case they take it down:
As you can see from the image, the release date is slated for the 14th of September – a Thursday, which fits with the usual release frame of European games.
I don’t understand why retailers continue to make the mistake of placing literally any date on their listings because the internet always tracks them down and short circuits. Anyway, if you do or don’t think the listing is accurate there is a couple of months till E3, I’m pretty sure the problem will be rectified then.
In other news, there won’t be any Vikings in the upcoming God of War.
Some gamers may find that the change of scenery and lore could mean that Vikings may make their appearance in some fashion or another. Well thanks to a report made by PlayStation Lifestyle, we now know that’s simply not the case.
God of War has Cory Barlog directing the game and he was recently asked on Twitter if gamers will see some of the more iconic Vikings in the upcoming title. According to Cory Barlog, this upcoming God of War video game takes place during a time before Vikings, but again, no specifics were mentioned as of yet.
We’re still waiting for new details regarding the narrative and gameplay of this soft reboot, but we do know that the title takes place several years after Kratos took his vengeance against the Olympian gods. Now fathering a young boy named Atreus, Kratos must control his rage and train Atreus on how to survive the world full of monsters and warriors.
