It seemed to really come out nowhere, but recently Bayonetta has launched on the PC platform. We reported on it earlier this week, though now we are finding out some of the reasons as to why the video game title launched on the PC platform nearly a decade after it initially hit store shelves.
Bayonetta is an action, hack and slash, video game developed by PlatinumGames. Originally, the title launched back in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. However, the video game did see another release in 2014 on the Nintendo Wii U.
It’s only until now that we’re finally seeing the video game title launch on the PC platform and a large reason as to why we didn’t see the title launch before is because of publishers. That’s the reason a representative of PlatinumGames told PC Gamer.
The representative stated that PlatinumGames knows that the PC market is huge and can definitely not be ignored. However, when it comes to which platforms their video games will launch on is with the publishers and not something that PlatinumGames can decide on their own.
“The PC market is huge and can definitely not be ignored. We are absolutely aware of that, and we’ve always felt this way. We’ve always had a positive stance towards porting our titles to PC, but the decisions as to which platforms we release our games on, and which platforms are the main focus for the games we make are largely made by the publishers, so this is not something we can decide on our own.”
However, the spokesperson also stated that third party publishers are now realizing the PC platform should not be ignored. Only time will tell if we will see more titles be released on the PC platform for PlatinumGames.
