The recent Nintendo Direct Presentation was intended to be a special event targeting Splatoon 2 and Arms, but it looks like Nintendo had a bonus planned all along. In addition to pencilling in the release date of Splatoon 2, the company has unveiled a triple whammy of new console hardware – Stand-alone Nintendo Switch docks, Neon Yellow Joy-Cons and Joy-Con Straps, and finally, a Joy-Con battery pack that runs on AA batteries.
The hour long event details upcoming information for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch, but at around the 47 minute mark, Deputy General Manager of Nintendo EPD Yoshiaki Koizumi gives a brief rundown on the Neon Yellow Joy-Cons and the battery-life extending attachment.
The Neon Yellow Joy-Cons and battery packs are due to release on June 16 (the same day as Arms), while the additional inventory of Switch docks will hit the market on May 19.
Nintendo confirmed two years ago that it was committed to promoting and sharing their products with fans directly via Nintendo Direct events.
