GameStop and Blizzard have announced that fans who pre-order the latter’s upcoming shooter Overwatch at the retailer will receive an exclusive mini baby Winston figurine when they collect their copy.
This new offer is being made in addition to the double-sided poster promotion which was previously announced and is also exclusive to GameStop. The poster is available to everyone when a pre-order is made for Overwatch on any platform. Pre-orders will also include a code to download the Noire Widowmaker Skin.
The game is set during “a time of global crisis” that leads to the establishment of an international hero task force who join together to bring peace to a war-torn planet. Overwatch offers a different model of chracter progression compared to other Blizzard games such as Diablo and World of Warcraft, with cosmetic rewards being far more likely than new weapons, bonuses, or power-ups.
A number of maps and heroes are being prepared for after the game’s release as free content but Blizzard has yet to decide whether there will be in-game monetization. In light of the game’s competitive nature, this is likely a good move as it means that everyone will be able to compete on the latest maps with the newest characters, not just those who’ve bought a season pass or added some DLC.
Two version of the game will be available, the $60 Origins Edition and the Collector’s Edition for $130. That comes with a 12.8″ Strike Commander statue, visual sourcebook, soundtrack, five skins, and more.
Overwatch is coming to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
