The ACConspiracies YouTube account has put together a video showing some of the key landmarks in Paris which we'll hopefully get to see and explore when Assassin's Creed Unity launches later this year.
We've seen Notre Dame cathedral in the trailer and screenshots Ubisoft's released so far but other key buildings which will hopefully be included are Les Invalides hospital – the burial place of Napoleon and while the Napoleonic Wars haven't been confirmed as part of the game we can hope Ubisoft goes beyond the French Revolution itself – and the Bastille which was stormed as the beginning of the Revolution.
There's also the Pantheon, modelled on the one in Rome – as seen in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood – but twice as large. Finally, we can expect the Palace of Versailles which is about 20 kilometres from Paris and served as the home of the French monarchy until the royal family was forced to move to Paris during the Revolution.
The more recent games have lacked the tall-climbable building of earlier installments but Unity should fix that. Les Invalides' dome is 107 metres tall, the Pantheon is double the size of the one in Rome at 83 metres tall, and Notre Dame is 96 metres tall.
Major landmarks you associate with Paris today such as the Eiffel Tower won't feature as it wasn't raised until 1889 and neither will Sacre-Coeur, that wasn't opened until 1914 (though construction began in 1875), while the French Revolution began in 1789.
Assassin's Creed Unity is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
