Square Enix has announced that they have added a brand new studio and already the development team is working on their first video game project. This announcement came from a Square Enix Holdings press release in which we get a little bit of information regarding the new studio and their current video game development.
This newly established studio is called Studio Itolia and its goal is to provide gamers with fun elaborate stories that gamers may enjoy and to inspire players in their own lives. Its reported in the press release that Hideo Baba, who was previously the producer of Bandai Namco’s Tales series, will be the president of the new studio.
“STUDIO ISTOLIA further builds on Square Enix Group’s vision to create new intellectual properties alongside existing Square Enix studios. Hideo Baba who has over 18 years of experience in game development will serve as the studio head.”
As mentioned, there is already a video game project in the works known as Project Prelude Rune. Not much information has been unveiled about the video game quite yet, though it was stated that this is an RPG title with a fantasy setting.
“Hideo Baba is working as the producer of “Project Prelude Rune” as well. The project aims to build a new RPG with a new fantasy: unfolding across a vast land teeming with life. Nurtured by the earth, the many peoples of this land dare to dream, fighting for what is just—and this is their tale.”
Perhaps we may hear more about the upcoming video game title during E3 of this year. Though for now, we’ll have to wait and keep an eye out for any future development news from Studio Istolia.
