Leaked Footage of Nintendo Switch Came From a Stolen Console

February 20, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

And Nintendo has taken action.

On Thursday, February 16, footage of Nintendo Switch interface interaction was posted online by a user who claimed to have bought the console, which is odd since the release date is still weeks away.

Well it’s been confirmed that GAF user hiphoptherobot is in fact not a time traveler sent back to hype the console, but bought it from an “unnamed store” that probably didn’t acquire it through legal means.

Nintendo has since provided some clarity on the matter in an interview with IGN where they stated that several consoles were in fact stolen by “employees of a U.S distributor.”

“The individuals involved have been identified, terminated from their place of employment and are under investigation by local law enforcement authorities on criminal charges.” said a Nintendo representative.

Hiphoptherobot has since returned the console to Nintendo, saying that he was unaware that it was acquired through illicit means.

I still think he’s a time traveler though.

The Nintendo Switch will launch worldwide on March 3, 2017.
