The Heaviest Hitters of January 2017

February 17, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

Resident Evil 7 takes the title.

The NPD group just dropped the hardware and software figures for January 2017, and Resident Evil 7 topped its respective sector.

“With only five days in the market, Resident Evil 7 was the best-selling game in January,” said NPD analyst Sam Naji.

Resident Evil 7 was only on the market for five days when the NPD reporting period ended.

The first person shooters Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 still formed part of the best selling games of the month. And Overwatch also made its return to the list after falling off in October 2016.

Grand Theft Auto 5 and Watch Dogs 2 also remained on the chart, while sports titles Madden NFL 17 and FIFA 17 remained popular with US consumers as well.
