Rainbow Six Siege Next DLC Release Date Announced Along With Free Weekend

January 30, 2017 by Kris Kittie

Operation Velvet Shell focuses on a Spanish special forces group.

Ubisoft has made two announcements about Rainbox Six: Siege today. First off, the game’s newest free expansion, Operation Velvet Shell, will be released on February 7th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It includes two new Operators and one map.

Maps are free to all players, while characters will be free to anyone who purchases a Year Two season pass. Everyone else will need to unlock them using either in-game currency or one obtained in exchange for real-world money.

Operation Velvet Shell is themed around the Spanish special forces group Grupo Especial de Operaciones. The new map, Coastline, is set is a pretty swanky nightclub in Ibiza.

One of the operators, Jackal, has recently been announced. The second still remains a mystery for new, but Ubisoft plans to reveal more details during Siege’s upcoming competitive gaming tournament this weekend.

The other announcement that Ubisoft has made today is that Siege will be playable for free on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC for one weekend. The free weekend runs from February 2nd to the 5th.
