The Wii U's lone confirmed military shooter is in jeopardy as Ubisoft has confirmed that Ghost Recon Online's development is now "on hold."
Speaking to Videogamer, Ghost Recon Online producer Theo Sanders reveals that the Wii U version has been put on hold in order for the development team to focus on the PC version completely.
As of right now, the entire Ghost Recon team is focused on the PC version only…The Wii U version is on hold.If in the future we have an opportunity to address it again, we'll make future announcements. But as of right now we're focused completely on the PC version
While this is certainly bad news, there is one sliver of good news to come out of this (if you can call it that) and that's the cancellation isn't due to Nintendo's online plans for the console…nor has it anything to do with the Wii U specifically. Sanders states that there's only one team developing the game on both platforms and they wanted to focus on making the PC version right.
This is certainly a blow to the Wii U's core games list, no? Then again, if you're interested in shooters, chances are you're not getting a Wii U for that purpose, no?
Are you disappointed to hear this news or should we not expect games like this for the Wii U?
