Super Time Force Has An Amazing Trailer

August 31, 2012 by Patricia Hernandez

A time travelling mindfuck game with a great trailer.

TIME OUT! with Super TIME Force Trailer! from Capy! on Vimeo.

Super Time Force. I want it. I want it now. And after you watch this slick trailer, I suspect you'll want it too. I mean, there's dinosaurs and dubstep and an awesome game in the trailer. All packaged in grade-A animation: you can tell there was a lot of effort put into the trailer, even if its really silly and absurd. Reminds me of Superjail in its tone, actually.

For those that don't know, Super Time Force is a game coming out for XBLA that comes out sometime next year. You are a part of a squad from the future whose mission is to go back in time and…screw it up. Like, you're supposed to change things that you’re not a fan of (according to the narrative, I'm guessing?)

You have a commander with a million medals who orders you around, and you’ll find yourself fighting nazis and dinosaurs, amongst other things. There are different characters with different abilities, like a machine gunner and sniper.

It’s a run and gun shooter much like Contra, but the twist is that when you die, time rewinds. You can then pick a new character (or the old one) and play again…but the old character also goes along with you to help. Like a ghost! This leaves room for interesting tactics where you might actually aim to die in specific ways to help yourself in a future life.

But then! If you manage to go ahead and prevent something from killing an earlier life, you recover that life back and you also get to play as that character again if you’d like–after all, they didn’t actually die anymore!

It’s kind of a mindfuck, but one that looks like it’s going to be a ton of fun. Glad to be able to say that this game looks like an OLD SCHOOL ___ while still actually bringing something new to the table: that’s rare!
