AMD Officially Unveils Radeon FreeSync 2

January 3, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

New exciting technology will make it easier to enjoy HDR content for PC gamers.

When it comes to PC gaming there are several aspects to consider outside of the internal components that power your gaming machine. One of those particular aspects is displays and there are plenty of options to run with. Today, we’re learning of AMD’s new technology release, the Radeon FreeSync 2 which will reportedly offer gamers the ability to witness pixel perfection easier than ever.

Thanks to the press release sent over by AMD we got a word of Radeon FreeSync 2 along with some of the changes Advanced Micro Devices has placed within the technology. Essentially, AMD is hoping to offer this technology to display manufacturers as it will enable monitors to show a display exactly how the game developers intended for.

While there are various options now for gamers to achieve this task of pixel perfection, they often require gamers to sift through menus and make tiny adjustments. With this new technology, AMD will allow gamers to simply plug in the display and play without having to make any adjustments at all which is a plus for gamers who are simply looking to jump into an HDR gaming experience without the settings hassle.

As for some of the qualifying monitors that may implement FreeSync 2, manufacturers could potentially reveal displays that will have low-latency, high-brightness pixels, and deep black levels, along with a wide color gamut for HDR content.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see just which manufacturer’s pickup and use the newly announced Radeon FreeSync 2 technology. Additionally, for some PC gamers who enjoy tweaking away at the settings, we’re interested in seeing how well these new monitors are received with the PC gaming community.
