2016 Game Sales Down 13% Compared to Previous Years; Infinite Warfare Finishes Year on Top

2016 is officially over for a couple of days now, so it’s time for GfK to report some interesting sales numbers.

GfK revealed that £23.7 million boxed games were sold throughout the year in the United Kingdom, which managed to generate a combined total of £776 million. If you take this data and compare it to the numbers obtained from 2015, it shows a 13.4% and 13.8% drop in units and value respectively.

These drops all have reasonable explanations behind them as even the biggest franchises managed to fall short than what they accomplished last year, with the biggest example being Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, which finished as the second best-selling title of the year and was still a whole 31.5% behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
