BattleBlock Theater Gift Shop and Character “Hatty” Detailed

On The Behemoth’s official devblog, the developer has posted a brief but detailed exploration of the upcoming BattleBlock Theater’s “Gift Shop” area of the game, as well as the character Hatty, who will feature most prominently in this area.

“We expect that the Gift Shop will be the most visited area in the game and since Hatty has an uncontrollable greed with the currency of BattleBlock Theater, this would be the most natural and fitting spot to have him hang out while the game progresses,” they write.

The post offers up a brief history of the design process of Hatty, including early design concepts and how his personality became fleshed out and adapted to the Gift Shop part of the game.

The Behemoth has also provided an eight-and-a-half minute video detailing the development process of Hatty’s role in the Gift Shop, which is a neat little look into the quirky character designs which have become The Behemoth’s signature, and some of the gameplay and environments we can hope to expect for the XBLA title.
