Phantasy Star Online 2 cut off to Western Fans

August 8, 2012 by Mat Growcott

SEGA have updated their terms of service and are banning people who want to play the game from outside Japan.

SEGA have announced that, until the western release, people outside of Japan will no longer be allowed to play in Phantasy Star Online 2. They haven't given much information as to why, and there's a great deal of confusion surrounding the entire move, but for now, if you were planning to get into the game, just presume that you won't be able to.

Apparently some are still finding they can log in, others are trying to find ways around it using proxies – the new terms and conditions give SEGA the right to ban them outright on an individual basis. People who put a lot of hours into the game are understandably upset that their hard work and character development are now unavailable to them, especially when met with the complete silence coming out of SEGA as a way of explanation.
