Sega’s 1989 Arcade Game Last Survivor Preserved in MAME

August 7, 2012 by Lana Polansky

Video of rare arcade title shows some footage of the ROM working in the emulator.

In a way, emulators are like online museums for beloved old games. They allow us to preserve and re-experience them, providing little windows to the past and letting old virtual worlds remain somewhere where they can be remembered, rediscovered and enjoyed by a new generation of people, even if the original hardware proves inaccessible.

That`s why it`s exciting when games like Sega's 1989 arcade rare action title Last Survivor get committed to the online exhibition.

The video above shows the game running in MAME, or Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator, uploaded by user ShoomBoomBoom, who writes in the video description,

"The video shows what should be a full loop of all the attract demos, and a bit of gameplay."

While the video suggests that more "progress" lies ahead, and does not provide a download link for the ROM, the port looks very impressive and is a valuable addition to the MAME family.
