Heavy Gear is Back! Stompy Bot Developing New Game

The Heavy Gear franchise isn't exactly new to video games. The tabletop game was adapted into a videogame by Activision way back in '97 and even saw the development and release of a sequel after the studio lost its rights to MechWarrior. 

Its creators Dream Pod 9 have announced today that Heavy Gear will be coming back to the PC, mobile and console platforms with the developers at Stompy Bot Productions at the helm. 

“We’re very excited to bring Heavy Gear back to the current generation of gaming fans,” said James Taylor, President of Stompy Bot Productions. Robert Dubois, President of Dream Pod 9, said “Dream Pod 9 looks forward to working closely with Stompy Bot Productions in developing the next incarnation of Heavy Gear’s 3D video game. Stompy Bot has the drive and talent to bring the world of Heavy Gear to life for all of our fans and a whole new generation of gamers.”

Very little is actually known about the game—or games—in development at the studio, but they have released some concept art (which you can see above) to show us what to expect.
