Torchlight 2 Detailed as Roughly Quadruple the Size of Torchlight

July 23, 2012 by Lana Polansky

Runic Games president explains what’s bigger and better about the upcoming sequel.

Pictured above is but a small part of an infographic (see the rest here) detailing all the aspects of the upcoming action RPG sequel Torchlight 2, which promises to be approximately four times the size of its predecessor.

On the official Torchlight 2 blog, Runic Games president Travis Baldree goes into significant detail describing these enhancements, saying that the playtime longevity should also be as long as the assets are said to be, promising far more gameplay with this next instalment.

Baldree also discussed some of the work he has done and still has to do for Acts 1 and 2, writing,

"I spent most of my time working on Act 2 monsters (the second half of the Act). I polished 13 different monsters, and added 12 new skills for them. I set up or revised spawnclasses for 6 different regions. I worked on destructible elements for a sewer area. I made several particle systems to supplement these things. I fixed some multiplayer boss battle issues in a previous area's boss battle, and various other bugs as they arose. I partially completed polish on one boss battle. For Act 2, I have about 4-6 more monsters to finish polish on, 4 or 5 more regions to spawnclass, and 3 boss battles left to touch. I also have various champion packs left to add."

Torchlight 2 is set for a late Summer release for PC, with a Mac OSX release to follow.
