NASA Tech Sends “Wheatley” to Spaaaaaaaace!

July 23, 2012 by Lana Polansky

Personality core gets engraved onto Japanese HTV-3 resupply craft.

According to the Official Portal 2 Blog, the game's sidekick has been launched into space, emblazoned on the Japanese HTV-3 resupply craft to the International Space Station, which went into orbit last Friday.

While we might be inclined to believe that it was in fact the Space Personality Core that made it above the stars, achieving his dreams as much in real life as he raves about in the game, the blog tells us it was Wheatley, laser-engraved onto the craft by an anonymous NASA tech:

"And please note that when we mentioned an "anonymous tech at NASA" we weren't kidding: NASA in no way officially endorses secretly laser-engraving characters from Portal onto their spacecraft. Believe it or not, they don't even officially endorse Portal 2, despite the fact that it's a really excellent game."

Endorsement or no, we salute you, little buddy.
