The official trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda is live. Watch it above.
The story trailer shows how the Hyperion, a human space vessel (along with some of the series’ aliens) goes into hyperdrive and gets lost somewhere in our neighboring galaxy, Andromeda. “We’re the aliens here,” says the male protagonist.
The trailer doesn’t contain much in the way of gameplay, showing mostly cutscenes from some of the title’s flashier sci-fi moments, including a gravity well and encounters with never-before-seen alien lifeforms.
Given the series’ trajectory since Mass Effect 3, many fans can’t help but wonder if the series has lost its way. Only time will tell whether Andromeda reignites the series. We remain hopeful, but we’re prepared for disappointment.
The game is set for a Spring 2017 release on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
