Borderlands 2’s On-Disc Content “Locked Down,” Gearbox Now Working on Post-Launch Content

July 20, 2012 by Alex Co

Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 2 is now headed to certification! Now the studio’s working on post-launch content.

Gearbox Software has announced that their upcoming shooter (no, not Aliens: Colonial Marines) — Borderlands 2 — is now headed to certification. So, what does this mean, you might ask?

Nothing much, except that the studio has officially nailed down all the "on-disc" content of Borderlands 2. In other words, the game is finished and Gearbox cannot make anymore changes to it.

However, this doesn't mean Gearbox is done working on the game. On the contrary, they're already diving in to do post-launch content for the game. One of these post-launch endeavors is the new Mechromancer class that will be made available to Borderlands 2 Premiere Club members for free.

This free DLC is set to to release 60 to 90 days after Borderlands 2's launch. To gain access to the Premiere Club, you need to pre-order the game from participating retailers (you can read up on that, here).

Borderlands 2 is set for release on September 18 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Which post-launch content would you want to see in Borderlands 2?
