Valve’s Steam gaming platform has just added beta support for Sony’s controller, the DualShock 4. Previously, if you wanted to play a game with the DS4, you’d have to wait for a game like The Witcher 3 to offer it specific support, or use a 3rd party app like DS4Tool to get it working by emulating it as an Xbox 360 controller.
Valve revealed earlier last month at Steam Dev Days that Steam will come to natively support the DS4 without any developer intervention.
The controller even works in Big Picture mode, and you can also customize it like you would a Steam Controller. The trackpad is enabled, as is the gyro.
The most recent update allows you to plug in a DS4 controller and play it as if you were using an Xbox One controller. As the update’s a beta, you’ll need to opt-in via Steam to gain functionality.
