BioWare has announced today that Star Wars: The Old Republic will now be offering a free trial, similar to how World of Warcraft offers a level-capped experience for new players to be able to try out the game and decide for themselves if they want to pay for it.

The free trial of Star Wars: The Old Republic allows you to socialize with other players and level your character up to level 15 with neither a charge, nor time limit. Players who decide to carry on can then upgrade their accounts with a retail copy of the game, purchased digitally or physically.

Free trial participants can experience the opening areas of all eight character classes in the game, exploring their Origin World, and visit the Capital World. There are also Player-vs-Player Warzones and instanced missions called Flashpoints in SWTOR.

All players, including those who previously experienced the game through a weekend pass or friend pass are eligible to try it out. Just head on over to the Trial page to get started.
