There are never any shortages when it comes to video game rumors, but for a rumor to spring out for the next Call of Duty title before the current installment hits store shelves may be pushing it. Regardless, a new rumor which was posted on IGN Spain has suggested that the next video game installment for the first-person shooter franchise will take a step back towards Vietnam.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is not even available to the public yet and already there are already rumors starting to spread for the next installment. With Sledgehammer Games being the development team to deliver the next Call of Duty title, a rumor has started to circulate that this installment will be taking place anywhere between 1955 and 1975, a big step backward from their upcoming futuristic release.

While the rumor doesn’t specifically state that the upcoming title will be set in Vietnam, there are some indicators that this could very well be the war Sledgehammer Games is going for. In the past, the development team has worked on a third-person Call of Duty video game set in the Vietnam war before it was cancelled. Now after some time has passed, there could be some inspiration to once again revisit the idea.

Being a rumor, it’s best to not take anything to heart as there’s obviously no statements released on the matter quite yet. Instead, the focus is very much on the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a title that has been fighting an uphill battle with plenty of gamers online. Regardless, if there is one thing that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has going for it, then it would have to be the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remaster which comes as an add-on.

As it stands right now, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be releasing on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One this November 4, 2016.
