SimCity Social: EA Unleashes Attack Ad on FarmVille

June 28, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

EA has put out an obnoxious trailer of its new game, SimCity Social.

Not content with merely annoying the players of SimCity who eagerly await the series' next installment, EA intends to fight against the likes of Zynga with its very own Facebook game called SimCity Social—while irritating fans of the SimCity franchise in the process.

The publishing juggernaut has just put up a new trailer of SimCity Social, titled "More City, Less Ville" in what appears to be a direct attack on the FarmVille games. The trailer also happens to have a jingle about how great SimCity Social is and how FarmVille kind of sucks.

While EA and its fans may consider the trailer humorous, most of the comments on YouTube appear anything but positive, and slam the publisher for its attack on Zynga.

SimCity Social is the product of Maxis and Playfish, a social games company which was acquired by EA not too long ago.

I can't personally comment on whether SimCity Social is any good, but most of the comments read along the lines of "Hey EA, give us more SimCity and less of this crap."
