Journey Collector’s Edition Contents Detailed and Release Date Revealed

June 25, 2012 by Alex Co

Thatgamecompany shares what their upcoming Journey Collection will include when it’s released in August.

Thatgamecompany has officially blown the lid off its upcoming first disc-based release called Journey Collector's Edition.

The collection is highlighted by thatgamecompany's last Sony-exclusive game Journey, but flOw and Flower will also be part of the mix. If three games weren't good enough, the collection will also hold a multitude of extras and we've listed them below.

+30-minute behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of Journey

+Creator Commentary play-throughs of all three games

+Three exclusive mini-games from thatgamecompany

+Concept art and screenshot galleries for all three games

+Original soundtracks for all three games

+PS3 dynamic themes and wallpapers

+PSN avatars including 8 exclusive new Journey avatars never released before

+Official game trailers and developer diary videos

+Reversible cover art

Sony's also throwing in a month of PlayStation Plus free just to sweeten the pot. The mini-games included in the disc are: Gravediggers, Duke War!! and Nostril Shot. These games were part of thatgamecompany's traditional 24 Game Jam where — you guessed it — they completed each mini-game in 24 hours. The studio states that the mini-games are their "thank you" to their fans and it will even include competitive multiplayer — a first for the developer.

Here's the collection's box-art.

The Journey Collector's Edition is priced at $29.99 and is set for release on August 28.

Not a bad deal, no? Half the cost of a "real" game and you get a ton of innovative bite-sized offerings. I mean, not every game needs to be about guns and killings, right?

Will any of you be getting this? I've yet to play Journey so this might be a no-brainer for me.
