Assassin’s Creed III Commentary Video Shows You the Dangerous Frontier

June 13, 2012 by Alex Co

Ubisoft has just released a video of Assassin’s Creed III showcasing gameplay from the Frontier and there’s even commentary!

As if fans needed more reasons to buy it, Ubisoft has released a new gameplay clip of Assassin's Creed III and this time, it's with a running commentary.

The trailer shows half-American, half-British Connor traversing through the game's gorgeous landscapes. While he's doing that, game mechanics and gameplay details are relayed to us by Creative Director Alexander Hutchinson.

One thing you'll notice right away is how fluid Connor's movements are compared to past Assassin's Creed games. Yes, he still climbs, jumps and does his usual parkour stuff like before, but the added elements of things such as "stalking zones" really give the game a fresh new take on the yearly franchise.

You can also see Connor the new "in" weapon of the gaming world — the bow and arrow. For some reason, a lot of games these days are implementing the old-school weapon. Here the protagonist uses it to shoot a deer. After that you can see him skin the beast to use its meat and pelt to sell in the game.

Of course, not every animal is as docile as a deer and Connor learns that the hard way when a pack of wolves coming rushing in. Before I ruin the whole video for you, why not take a look at it for yourself.

One new adjustment they did that I really like is that combat seems more fun due to the altered control scheme. Guns can be used with a single press of a button and it's the same with the franchise's trademark wristblade.

It's no secret that Ubisoft is heavily banking on the Assassin's Creed franchise and that's one of the main reasons we see it every year. But Assassin's Creed III looks to scale things up a notch which might surprise people who are expecting the same old thing.

We'll know for sure how much things changed for the better when Assassin's Creed III ships on October 30 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
