Doom 3: BFG on PS3 is Hard to get Running at 60FPS

June 13, 2012 by Mat Growcott

Sony’s console may be fantastic when it comes to showing of its skills with exclusives, but id Software are claiming that getting Doom 3: BFG at 60FPS has been a nightmare worthy of the game itself.

Bringing Doom 3 back was an interesting decision on id's part. As far as I was aware, at the time and from the little it gets mentioned now, people were always in two minds about it. Was it a game worthy of the Doom name or was it just another narrow-path Zombie shooter? Still, they've obviously done their research and decided that a return to Doom 3 could be profitable, so the best of luck to them.

Somebody, obviously excited to replay the title on their PS3, asked John Carmack via Twitter if there was any chance that BFG will take advantage of some of the graphical power inside the device. The answer was short and sweet: "Just getting Doom 3 BFG to 60fps on the PS3 is more challenging than you would think."

Sony detractors are blaming the "dated" hardware, Sony fans are blaming id's bias against the console. Isn't it funny, the controversy that a comment can make?
