All three major conferences are over and all the disappointments have been felt. Nintendo showed off some good looking games, as well as some not so good looking games, one of the new games shown off for the Wii U was Nintendoland. Nintendo is hoping that this game will do for the Wii U what Wii Sports did for the Wii.
Nintendoland is a virtual theme park containing a collection of mini games based around other Nintendo franchises. Players navigate their Mii character to different attractions in the virtual park and compete in a variety of games with their friends. The main mini game that was shown off was based around Luigi’s Mansion. The game is essentially a slightly different version of Pac-Man
Four players have Wii controllers and control characters running around a haunted mansion while a fifth player uses the Wii U game pad to control a ghost. The other players use their flash lights and run around the maze of a map looking for the ghost player. The ghost player sneaks up on the others and scares them into fainting while avoiding the lights of the other player. When the ghost character is hit by the light their health will begin to fall. Last player still standing wins.
While this hasn’t been the worst E3, or the worst Nintendo conference, it’s been a rather disappointing one. I had been holding out hope for Nintendo and they let me down. They know what we want, why can’t they just pull through and bring back our smiles? It’s ok though, I still love you Nintendo.
