Splinter Cell Blacklist coming to PS3, Won’t Star Michael Ironside

June 5, 2012 by Mat Growcott

Michael Ironside approves of Eric Johnson in the lead role of Sam Fisher in the new Splinter Cell. The question is, does anybody else?

You'd have been forgiven for thinking that Splinter Cell's hero, Sam Fisher, sounded a little bit off in the E3 trailer for Blacklist yesterday. Michael Ironside's signature growl was definitely out of the (audial) picture last night and there's a good reason for that: he's past the torch that is Sam Fisher over to Eric Johnson.

And then interviewed him about it.

It's an odd move on Ubi's part, and it leads me to think that perhaps Ironside will take on a different role in the game. Still, however it plays out, the game looked decent (I was one of the people who enjoyed Conviction) and it's definitely worth watching.

Ubi have also changed Fisher's facial features to more match Eric Johnson, a move that has made fans ask "if the voice has changed and the looks have changed, why not just rename the character?"

On the bright side, Blacklist will be coming to PS3 this time around, bringing the stealth military-action series back to people who may have missed out on conviction. More information will no doubt be released over the coming months.
