5th Cell Unveils Source Engine-Based Shooter, Hybrid

June 4, 2012 by Ian Miles Cheong

Hybrid is a Source Engine-powered shooter by 5th Cell. It was just announced.

5th Cell has just put together a trailer for its upcoming Source Engine-powered third person shooter, Hybrid.

The game is set in the "post-apocalyptic year 2031" in which jet packs apparently pop into existence after a huge asteroid collides into Earth and drives much of the planet into extinction. Naturally, the survivors decide to go to war over the remainder of the planet.

Hybrid will offer a "single, unified world server" in which hundreds and thousands of players can do battle. Players choose from one of two factions, the Variant or the Paladin, and level up to unlock upgrades, abilities, weapons, and armor to capture territory.

Hybrid will be out for the XBLA in Summer 2012 for both European and American gamers.
