Gears of War: Judgement is a Prequel, Developed by People Can Fly

June 2, 2012 by Mat Growcott

This month’s Game Informer apparently reveals a brand new Gears of War, granting a few details about what to expect.

Well, I think we can safely say that, after the traditional Call of Duty segment at the beginning of the Microsoft Conference on Monday, that we'll be seeing a brand new trailer for the new Gears of War game. On the cover of Game Informer this month is the reveal for the next entry in the popular 360-exclusive series and some people are claiming to have seen actual details inside the magazine.

Set 15 years before the first game, Gears of War: Judgement will probably be a third-person shooter starring Baird, Cole, Paduk and "a red-haired girl named Sophia Hendricks." There will be more freedom in the narrative of the game, more intelligent AI and a smart-spawn system, massively increasing the longevity of the single player (which can also be played in co-op). Judgement will apparently take place days after the Locust began to emerge.

There's also a new mode called Overrun, which apparently combines Locust and Beast modes seen in previous entries in the series. It might be class-based, although that might be for a different mode.

Something I seem to have typed countless times over the last week: expect more concrete details at E3 over the coming week.
