Newest Pokemon Go Update Adds Pokemon Attack/Defense Stats

August 23, 2016 by Kris Kittie

Take your Pokemon to your team leader for an appraisal.

Niantic’s newest addition to the Pokemon Go app is called the Pokemon Appraisal feature. Players can use it to learn about a Pokemon’s attack and defense capabilities, which are measured by their team leader.

Due to the fact that a team leader is require for the appraisal, it would seem this feature is only available for players level five and above. At level 5, players choose which team they would like to join, Team Mystic, Team Valor, or Team Instinct.

A Pokemon’s attack and defense stats affect how it will perform in battle. The Appraisal (as shown in the screencaps above, courtesy of Train Tips, werwin11 ) provides an overview of statistics instead of sharing actual numbers.

The update adds, “minor bot fixes.” Niantic has said that it is still working on “several new and exciting features” to be added into the game.

This new feature adds much more depth to the game already, with more insight into which Pokemon would be best for building your team and sending them into battle.
