Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming sequel for the original Titanfall is currently enjoying its short period in the sun, with its multiplayer test currently underway.
However, the studio is planning to treat Titanfall 2 as a brand new IP. COO Dusty Welch said the statement while talking to MCV recently, and discussing the player base for each platform.
We’re really excited to welcome back that original Xbox One, 360 and PC audience. But Titanfall 2 is really a new IP at launch if you think about it. The Xbox One install base is two or three times what it was when Titanfall launched, the PC audience continues to grow. Then there’s the PS4 install base, which is enormous.
Respawn’s Drew McCoy as well was able to sit down with Polygon, and talk about people who dig through the game’s files and spoil what the studio is planning to add or has in store for players that will be revealed at a later date.
We’ve spent enough time crafting a game that we want to have surprises that we didn’t want to spoil. All it takes is literally finding a couple words in some files that we missed and that would ruin the large portion of the game.
Titanfall 2 releases on October 28 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
